This is a heads up on an book that's scheduled for release on July 10, 2012, "Year Zero" by Rob Reid.

Book Description: In the hilarious tradition of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Rob Reid takes you on a headlong journey through the outer reaches of the universe--and the inner workings of the absurdly dysfunctional music industry.

Low-level copyright lawyer Nick Carter thinks it's a prank, not an alien visitation, when a redheaded mullah and a curvaceous nun show up at his office. But Frampton and Carly are highly advanced (if bumbling) extraterrestrials. And boy, do they have news.

Ever since what has come to be known as Year Zero--when the smooth stylings of 1970s TV theme songs first reached alien ears--the universe has been downloading Earth's music. Now they've realized that, according to the Copyright Damages Improvement Act, every single download will cost $150,000 in fines--in other words, all the wealth in the universe and then some. It would be far cheaper just to destroy the Earth.

And Carly and Frampton have just tapped Nick to save the world.

Nick Carter is an unlikely galaxy-hopping hero: He's scared of heights. He's about to be fired. And he lives with the curse of having the same name as a Backstreet Boy. But he does know a thing or two about copyright law. And he's packing a couple of other pencil-pushing superpowers that could come in handy.

Soon he's on the run from a sinister parrot and a highly combustible vacuum cleaner. With Carly and Frampton as his guides, Nick now has forty-eight hours to save humanity, while hopefully wowing the hot girl who lives down the hall from him.

About the Author
Rob Reid is the founder of Listen.com, which created the Rhapsody service, the world's largest seller of online music until it was eclipsed (rather badly, he'll admit) by Apple's iTunes service. He is the author of Year One, a memoir about student life at Harvard Business School, where he received his MBA, and wrote Architects of the Web, the first true business history of the internet. He lives in the Los Angeles area with his wife, Morgan [Webb].

Celeb-Nerdy Interview

Morgan Webb was recently interviewed by David Wolinsky of Adult Swims's Celeb-Nerdy. The interview focuses solely on one of Ms. Webb's interests. It's not video games or technology, but insects. Ants in particular. And for those that are curious, Entomology is the study of insects and Myrmecology is the study of ants.

'Slavy Seconds' Podcast Interview

On Tuesday, March 15th, Morgan Webb was interviewed via phone on the Slavy Seconds podcast on WJHU Radio. Among the things hosts Andrew and Sasha talked with Ms. Webb about include how Ms. Webb dodged a "Toddler's in Tiaras" upbringing, her current life with X-Play, and how she feels about websites such as iheartmorganwebb.com (now Morgan Webb and Us).

Andrew and Sasha go all out in this interview and try to find any kink in Webb's armor of perfection, which after a full barrage of questions turns out to be: NOTHING. We start with her basics: her kinda-but-not-reallychildhood fame from Gerbers to McDonalds and how she luckily dodged a "Toddler's in Tiaras" upbringing . We get into discussing her seemingly bullshit major of rhetoric. Her curent life with Xplay, and how she kept it 'too real' with G4 Underground. We hit a bump in the awkward highway when we ask about how she feels about obsession sites such as iheartmorganwebb.com and if it's kind of offensive when they stop updating. We wrap it up with what her video game would be, if she could design one (spoiler alert: would involve guns that shoot saws. Tentative title : Porn Star LARPing)

You can stream and/or download the interview here.
